Let’s assume you have an interest in golf and have previously played many golf matches on an amateur level. Entering professional competition does not interest you for some reason, but you still want to be able to do something constructive and maybe make some money with your love for golf. Well, the possibility exists, with several different ways to become official PGA Golf teachers.
The first steps to becoming PGA Golf teachers
There are several different ways to becoming PGA Golf teachers, although one must keep in mind that it is a relatively challenging process. To start with, one of the more cost effective methods would be to search for a job as an assistant to already certified PGA Golf teachers in nearby golf clubs or golf equipment sellers. This will grant you actual practical experience and some income. The next step to becoming certified PGA Golf teachers is registering as a student in the Professional Golf Association of America. Having an assistant job will help you with the registration. After that, you basically start an apprentice program that lasts for three years and involves multiple subjects like the rules of golf, golf equipment maintenance and construction, event management, golf terrain maintenance and care, golf cab maintenance, public relations and other subjects. This can be completed from home, but all subjects must be passed within a three-year deadline.
Continuation of PGA Golf teachers education
Once you have completed your three-year study course, the next step to becoming certified PGA Golf teachers is a training program. The program is typically a week long. During that time, you take additional classes, are interviewed by staff members of the Professional Golf Association of America and are required to pass two exams. One of the exams will be of a theoretical nature, testing everything you’ve learned during over three years of training, while the other will test your practical skills on an actual golf course. If you pass those exams, you can then apply for positions available to certified PGA Golf teachers and for official PGA membership.
Availability of PGA Golf teachers’ education programs
Classes and education programs for PGA Golf teachers are in almost every USA state. You can apply for classes for Golf teachers in over 20 universities in America that offer an official PGA Golf teachers degree. However, the universities may have different requirements for enrollment, so you can try in another university if you’re rejected at one. Working as Golf teachers can be very lucrative with enough skill, and is definitely a way to combine business and pleasure in a way, especially if you’re an avid golf fan.
